Write Every Day ...

"... the Muse insists. Don't skip a day no matter how you're feeling, no matter how many wars your country is fighting, no matter how many tornadoes are heading your way. Crawl into your storm cellar and pick up a pen. If you can't think of anything to say, write the word God again and again. If you don't believe in God, write the word dog. Everyone believes in dogs."

("Sy Safransky's Notebook," The Sun, July 2011)

Yes, I'm going to attempt to do this again this year. I lost myself in 2016, overwhelmed by the politics and changes in my life. I refuse to let this year control me and my emotions, my life and my writing. And to that end I've joined an online journaling group, I've spent the most of yesterday making my very first "Smashbook" and OMGs! It was a blast to create uninhibited. Just paint, fold, crease, write, whatever the Muse gives you. Yes, it was difficult for me. You all know I'm a perfectionist with everything I do. Pictures will be posted once the exterior of the book is dry and I can finish adding the embellishments.

Yep, I am looking forward to this year and all the challenges and blessings coming my way.

  2. This is a great concept to write every day. I think I need to do that. Somedays I just don't know what to write about though. Last year beat the crap out of all of us I think, some of us were healthwise as we spoke this morning about. I am just happy to have a new year to start fresh & clean. I look forward to see what you write about.

  3. I post on my blog when I feel good. MS kicks my but really hard during winter. I'm starting my smashbook tomorrow. I've been busy trying to get this house in order for a new year smudge blessing. Tomorrow will be the day for many things. I can't wait.

  7. Totally understand the not feeling good part. Jimmy keeps me supplied with all the latest electronics so on days when I don't feel I can sit up at the desk, I have my tablet and if I'm really down, I can drag out the slow as molasses laptop. Here's to more feel better days!! <3

  8. I can honestly say I missed writing! My goal is to write at least a few lines each night while the bath is filling. And since it's a deep garden type tub, I should have plenty pf time, LOL!! <3

  9. Do you have to purchase "Smash Book" supplies?

  10. The basis is a composition book and then paints or markers or whatever else you have on hand. Some people in my class/group have ordered or purchased items for their books but, I just used what I have here. Here is a link to a video that shows a little bit on how to do them. BTW, Catt Z is one of the people I'm learning from! http://cosmicsmashbooking.com/
